USER RESEARCH • INTERVIEWS & SURVEYS

We wanted to hear the root cause of college inaccessibility from the users themselves. Each of us interviewed a set amount of students to learn about their college readiness needs.
OUR KEY FEATURES

Based on data-driven user research, our product managers defined four features given our scope: an onboarding flow to identify user needs, a classes flow to help students meet A-G requirements, a search flow to streamline college information into one digestible page, and a mentorship flow to provide students with personalized support.
VISUAL DESIGN DECISIONS

We approached color carefully to avoid biased associations. Orange is psychologically linked to motivation, and purple avoids blue-gold UC associations and green-gold CSU associations.
FINAL (INITIAL) SOLUTION

We shipped this minimum viable product and partnered with local school districts to validate our solution. Unimi is a work in progress—but we're excited about our product's strategy and its impact on future generations.
UNIMI. The app that makes college accessible for everyone.
